In this work, we present and analyze some didactic experiences in grades 4 and 5, focused on data interpretation and their graphic representations. These experiences are part of a wider path aimed at building the basis for educating citizens able to interpret the information available to them and to make sound and appropriate decisions.
These activities are contextualized in the normal classroom life of children, which make the problems of investigation strongly motivating. We will show how in the chosen context the interpretation of data allows interesting mathematical discussions in which students confront each other and produce argumentations.
