PiGame 2023: a mathematical escape room

This article presents a didactic experience aimed at lower and upper secondary school students in Italy through the construction of a virtual escape room. The experience involved more than 50 schools and 1500 students on Pi Day 2023, the International Day of Mathematics. The article elaborates on the inspiration for the mathematical problems presented and on the development of a virtual context that can emulate the experience of an actual escape room game.
