The paper presents the results of a case study in which three undergraduate students from the Master’s programme in Computer Science interact in solving a problem. The role of backward reasoning and its relations to forward reasoning, in the explanation processes carried out by a student who interfaces with the difficulties of her peers, are highlighted through epistemic and linguistic interpretative lenses (the backward reasoning dimensions and the perspective of Commognition).
