Numerous research studies point out the great influence held by emotions and beliefs in the process of mathematics learning, on one hand, and how the body has a central role in mathematical cognitive processes, on the other hand. Mathemart approach, designed by SCT Centre and included in the TIM (Theatre in Mathematics) project, employs Social and Community Theatre as a means to teach mathematical concepts. This paper illustrates a series of lessons carried out in a second grade class using Mathemart; potential and limitations of the methodology will be analyzed, with a specific focus on affect and the role of bodily experience.
