This paper presents, in the commognitive framework, the construct of mathematics learning profile and illustrates how this profile can be identified through the analysis of an interview. Moreover, the hypothesis of the modifiability of this profile, in the case of a failure identity, is explored by implementing a sequence of activity to introduce algebraic thinking, designed to recover difficulties in mathematics. More specifically, we analyze the case of Dario, a tenth-grade student with a history of low achievement in mathematics.
